Solo

Well, J. went out of town yesterday, so I'm a solo dad until Sunday afternoon. This will be quite the test. :-) So far it's going really well. M. is doing FABULOUSLY! She kissed her mom at the airport and gave me a big smile as mom walked into the terminal.

Later, when I put her down for her nap she asked "mama?" and I told her she was flying in an airplane and I put my arms out to mimic flying. M. smiled and said "mama" and stuck her arms way out to "fly." Periodically throughout the day, she'd say "Mama? and stick her arms out with a big smile." too cute.

Today we went to the indoor [=warm :-)] play scape at the mall. G. and M. had loads of fun. We ended the morning with a check-up at the doctor. M. was great until we needed to take off her shirt. Then she started crying. Thankfully, we were able to convince her that there would be "no ouies" (or would you spell that "owies?") this time and she settled down pretty fast.

She's doing well. Gaining wait. Moving along. I'm not sure what she was thinking, but as we pulled into the dr.'s lot M. pointed to the building and kept saying "mama? Mama?" She asked about her again before nap-time.

Speaking of nap-time, I need to take advantage of this quiet "alone time" and do some work. :-)

Shopping with a Girl

So, we've already mentioned how different it is to take M shopping. She loves the sparkly girl things! Today we spent an hour or so shopping together (J and M). A gift card was burning in my pocket! As we went from rack to rack, M oohed and ahhed. I would hold up selections and ask her what she thought - just for fun, of course. All of the sudden, she spied a display of sweaters and got quite animated. I asked which color...showed her the choices and she was emphatic in her sweet way about one particular option. I agreed to try it on and in we went to the dressing room with the various things.

We're in the changing room and M is finding the entire outing thrilling. She's smiling, she's oohing, she's giggling. It's adorable and I'm wondering where she's been all my life. I try on all of my picks...soft ivories (of course) and a blue. Finally, I try on her pick for me. Wouldn't you know, it's PERFECT. Definitely the best one. She smiles her beautiful smile as if to say, "I told you so and isn't this just great?!"

The color? Pink. Of course. Aunt S...you're going to LOVE this girl! :-)
