This week, I had the privilege of talking with some close friends about adoption. Every time I speak or hear of it, I am amazed again at the miracle of it all and of how simply beautiful it is.
I remember all of the thoughts and concerns we had going into the adoption. What would she be like? What scars would her heart hold? Would she ever love us? I remember wondering how we would deal with hard questions and challenging times.
But I also vividly remember my husband sharing God's truth with me, reminding me that at our core, all of us have the same basic need...to find our identity in Jesus Christ and His love for us.
Whether we were left to be care for by others, raised by less than perfect parents, struggle with anorexia, battle addictions, doubt our worth, etc., etc., none of us will find peace in our hearts until we know with certainty that Jesus loves us fully as we are. We can strive for the perfect jobs, the perfect homes, the perfect retirement funds, the perfect appearance, but nothing will truly satisfy without the anchor of Christ.
In this sense, we raise our bio kids and our adopted daughter with the same end goal in mind...to find fullness in the only one who can give true life and true happiness. Tonight I find myself wanting more of that assurance myself. I want to sit at God's feet again and bask in His grace and His forgiveness and His love for me.
Thank you, Jesus, for loving us so beautifully. For giving up your life so that we could find ours.
Here's my worship song for tonight:

Serious Post
I've posted some ridiculous things lately. That happens when your life is as insane as ours has been lately...well, actually, always.
But today I've got a serious post. Miss M's ferritin levels are not good.
Most of you know that we began nightly sub-cu drips of a chelation medicine at home to combat the build-up of ferritin in her blood. The numbers dropped a bit last month, but this month NOTHING. We met with her hematologist yesterday and as of today she will begin doing BOTH the current sub-cu therapy as well as her previous oral medication.
PLEASE pray that her numbers go down soon! Thanks.
Oh! And our little cutie-pie was video-taped yesterday to be in a commercial for the hospital. Apparently her pigtails caught the attention of the crew. Told you she was adorable! :-)

New Holiday!
I've got a fabulous idea. I think amidst all the discussion about nationalized healthcare and recessions, we need something positive introduced nation-wide. I think we should create a new holiday...Naked Day!
My children would just love it! No putting dirty clothes in the hamper. No changing when mom says something doesn't match. No socks without pairs under my sofa.
But here's the clincher....I'm thinking it is quite possibly the only way on God's green earth that I am ever going to catch up on laundry.
