We are waiting. We are waiting for firm dates for our travel. We hope to have them as early as Tuesday. My parents (R) are waiting, so that they know when they are coming to watch the kids. Pastors are waiting so they know when and if they need to fill in for me. We are waiting to have the dates filled in on our calendars so we can schedule other events around them. Like dominoes falling and impacting one another, one date will have quite an impact on us and on the schedules of those around us.
We have lots to do while we wait: Travel prep, school, music lessons, work, hospitalization, (M has to go in for a desferal+transfusion+desferal stay), taxes, bills, and the rest of all the regular stuff of life. It's a busy time!
And far away from all of our waiting and busyness, but never far from our thoughts and hearts, a little girl waits for a family. But does she? Does she know yet? And what does she think about all this? Is she scared? Indifferent? Nervous? Excited?
We wait and wonder. And it's getting harder and harder to wait.

Travel Approval!!!
It's official! We're going to China! We got our TA! However, there's a bit of "hold-up." Today marks the beginning of Chinese New Year which means that everything
And I mean EVERYTHING
in China shuts down...Including the US Consulate with whom we need to book an appointment at the end of the process. The trip is actually planned BACKWARDS from that date. We will find out in a week when our consulate date is and could leave as early as FEBRUARY 7th!
And you want to know what's CRAZY?
One year ago, on February 7th, we saw Xin Ni's picture for the very FIRST TIME.
And melted.
And gotcha' day? It could be on my dad's 60th birthday. The dad who's currently in Africa sharing Jesus with those dying of HIV and playing with precious children orphaned by the disease. If that happens, I just know he'll use every opportunity to remind Violet Xin Ni that they share a special day...and he'll milk us all for two desserts!
Another crazy thing?
There's a CHANCE we could travel with another family from our church! If they get their travel approval today we could be bringing our kids home together! What a comfort that could be to our kids!
Here's to waiting in limbo for yet another week.
Oh! And please pray that Randall's visa is approved. Last time, we ran into trouble because of his occupation. This time, at the advice of the courier service, his visa is being expedited at the last minute with special stipulations that he promises to be in and out of the country in under 30 days.
