Bookies are No More

She did it! She did it! Miss M can now say "COOKIES!" After a month of speech therapy, M can finally say the "ck" sound! It might have something to do with the season here...She's spent a lot of time in the kitchen with mom lately sampling Christmas cookies, candy canes, and cocoa! :-)

Great job, M! One sound down....dozens to go!

Guess Who?

Guess who got a lead role in this year's middle school musical, Mulan?! N will play the role of Shan Yu, evil Hun warrior. What 12 year old boy wouldn't be thrilled to memorize choreographed kung fu battle scenes? I'm sure his little brothers will be only too happy to help him practice! Lord, help us!

Christmas Time is Here

One of our favorite things about the holidays are the special shows our children participate in. This week was J's turn to be in the spotlight. And what a spotlight! All the children from the 4th and 5th grade classes at his elementary school gathered at the town middle school's auditorium. Lots of great songs, including Do, Re, Mi from the Sound of Music. But our family favorite was definitely a new song....Hot Chocolate!

Live Nativity Fun

Every year, our church hosts a live nativity. Dozens of angels, shepherds, and wise men make their way along a snowy path to the front of our church lawn where we share the true story of Christmas with friends, family, and neighbors. Lots of live animals join the chorus, including llamas, sheep, donkeys, and goats. My favorite year was the one in which a pig attended. We didn't mention how Mary and Jesus might have felt about having a pig nearby while baby Jesus was born. :-)

This year, it was cold and WET. With a terrible forecast, we took our celebration indoors and this mom LOVED it! No more cold toes! Of course, the kids got a kick out of watching the llamas walk up the church aisles!
