While we're bragging on M, we have to take time to mention J's most recent achievements. My mother warned me that 9 was quite the year of adventure for boys. She cited my brother's trips to the ER, the broken windows, etc. Will J be a mirror image of his uncle?
Last week, I found him on a ladder six feet up in a tree cutting down a huge tree branch with his father's saw. Below him was a twin size mattress, one brother, and two friends. "What are you DOING?" He looked at me with great pride and declared, "Building us a tree fort." When the friend's mother found him moments later one of them said, "Parents think kids don't think about safety, but we do. We have the mattress here in case he falls with the saw."
Yeah, a mirror image so far. Did I mention the tree belongs to our church?!
Yesterday I was vainly trying to work on the computer when our oldest son finds me to say, "Hey, Mom? Does Joseph have permission to be nailing into the side of the house?" WHAT?!
I run outside and find Joseph building what you see here. What is it, you ask? An outdoor, light-up scoreboard for their evening whiffle ball games. Uh-huh.
Joseph lugged the old 12 inch tv out of the basement and extension corded it to the outdoor plug. He found an old shade in the basement and NAILED IT TO THE BACK WALL OF THE GARAGE. He then had cut out numbers to put on the tv's face to try to project onto the screen.
Yeah, he's ingenious alright. The question is....will we have a house or child left by the time he turns 10??
