The Bag of Doom

When you have three boys, you've got to be creative to get cleaning accomplished. Hence, the BAG OF DOOOOOOOM. I have a reusable shopping bag that I dump any boy stuff into that ends up on the kitchen counter throughout the week. Baseball cards, books, projects, you name it. Every week on cleaning day, the bag is emptied into the garbage can. "Miraculously," each week the owners find their contents before the bag is pitched and I find my sanity. If they truly don't want something, out it goes with no guilt! It just wouldn't work as well if it was called the "clean up bag" or the "happy home bag." Nope, with boys it's gotta' be dramatic.

I just heard G say to an older brother, "I found your book. It's in the bag of doom. Quick, save it!" It still cracks me up to hear the boys say it!

Wish I Had a Picture!

Yesterday was transfusion day at our local Children's Hospital. The staff surprised M with a visit from a dance therapist! This former kindergarten teacher and dance studio owner is a licensed dance therapist who specializes in helping children find joy, movement, and healing through music and dance.

She brought crepe paper streamers and soon had M and I twirling around the room. It was SO much fun! M was smiling and giggling with glee as she spun and moved. What a beautiful way to help small children feel better about being pricked, prodded, and stuck with needles all day!

The dance instructor said M has wonderful rhythm and simply "HAS" to take dance. :-)

The only thing that could've made it better was if Randall had had the shift and I had had a video camera. Somehow I just can't imagine him twirling to Enya's "Sail Away." Oh wait....maybe I can!

Hmmmmmm

Do you think it's bad that our daughter calls a spatula a "cookie helper"? Well, in her words it's actually a bookie eper! :-)

You Know You Have Boys When...

You find a Chinese sword in the fruit basket.

"Boys...why is there a sword in the fruit basket?" Why do I even ASK?!

Blank looks answer me for a moment and then one boy responds,

"Um, to slice the avocado?"
