Chef N Strikes Again!

Today we awoke to a deliciously chilly morning full of sunshine. We decided to hit our local apple farm for all our fall favorites (admittedly a little early). N took the chance to learn how to make pie. The boy sure can cook. His crust was crazy flaky and the pie looked gorgeous sprinkled with sugar. "Just like a snowy mountain" said brother G.

At the end of the day, G snuggled in close and said, "This day was just glorious." That says it all.

Yummy Pumpkins

After several failed attempts at a garden, this summer we planted pumpkin seeds. Quite honestly, we held out little hope. But lo and behold, apparently we are good pumpkin farmers!

This fall we've harvested six good size sugar pumpkins and we've been roasting them, freezing the fruit, and getting reading for a cold winter with yummy treats! We LOVE pumpkin pie and ADORE pumpkin chocolate chip pecan muffins.

The boys think scooping out the seeds is cool! M thinks it's "Ew! Yucky!"

J's got a Bass!

The time has finally come! J's been waiting for Orchestra to begin to receive his new bass! We're so blessed to be in a school system where our children have the opportunity to take lessons and play in either the band or the orchestra for free. Turns out several of J's friends are also playing string instruments so he'll have lots of good company.

Guess what we parents like? The bass is QUIET! Did we mention our eldest son plays trumpet? :-)

Favorite Quote From G Last Week

When asked about his highs and lows this week, one school subject made the discussion.

"We did math...AGAIN. It's like every DAY. MATH IS JUST PLAIN UNLIKABLE."

Of course, being the wonderful, mature parents we are, we did NOT high five him and encourage such thoughts. Um, well....we did. Shhhh!

Cracking Me Up!

M's got some funny accents going on lately. She's constantly asking "Why, Mum?" with an Irish lilt. It's super cute. Then ask her to do something and she replies, "I will" with a huge southern drawl. Who knew we had a Southern European Chinese daughter?
