Last week, N's 8th grade classmates were on a field trip to Washington DC for a few days. We opted out of the trip when they shared the cost with us...$1,000! Too rich for our budget for a field trip. :-(
Instead, R took N into NYCity for the day and they had a blast. Went up the Empire State Building, toured the public library, saw the Hippodrome, and spent the afternoon at the Museum of Natural History. And let's not forget lunch at a great Indian restaurant. For our city-loving son, even the train and subway rides are "awesome!"
We actually heard our 13 year old say, "Hey dad...wouldn't it be cool to just come here and read a great history book here for the day?!" Um....excuse me?!
