Rocker in Our Midst

There's a young man in our house who I am positively lovin' these days. When he was little, a fellow preschooler dubbed him Crazy-Joe. Not because he's wild or wiggly because if there's anything he isn't, it's wild and wiggly. It's the hair. Even at 3, he loved to funk his hair.

Lately, he's added electric bass to his loves. He sounds great on the traditional classic stand up, but he adores his electric. Jazz is his thing. Smooooooth Jazz.

He's usually nestled in some corner of our home with an instrument, figuring out licks or practicing his scales. Seriously. Scales. I never have to ask him to practice. Never. Loving that!

Yesterday, I came around the corner to my living room and found this:

Yep. We're thinking he'll be our child who wants purple hair. Or an earring. Or both. As long as he's rocking for the Lord, we'll be cheering him on all the way!

The Underground Railroad

Late last week we enjoyed watching G's class perform a puppet show about the Underground Railroad. G read the part of Little Samuel, a slave boy running away to freedom in the north. He was quite nervous, but only his parents could tell. His give-away? His ears get redder and redder the more nervous he is. :-)

M's Hospital Stay

We've been asked to give an update on M's recent hospital stay. Thanks for caring, everyone!

We won't know the real results of M's intense chelation for a few months. She needs several rounds of treatment before we will most likely begin to see her ferritin numbers going steadily down. We DO know that she tolerated the treatment well with the pre-medication they gave her to avoid the side-effects she had last time. We also know that it is EXHAUSTING. They pump her full of so many fluids that she is literally up every hour or two in need of a restroom WITH assistance as she is hooked to machines and a drip line, etc. R insists on doing the overnight stays since it is the most taxing and is hard for my heart to be up so often. I thought I was tired after entertaining her for the day. You should see HIM. What a saint!

She'll be back in the week after Easter again. We're praying this won't have to go on for too many months.

Special thanks to our dear friends Eloise and Katie who stayed with M at the hospital one of the evenings so both R and I could go to G's puppet show at school!
