Storm Juno

Thanks to the Dad in the House, snow storms are epic fun in the Pekari house.  Each kid loves them and not just because there's no school...Randall becomes a kid again in anticipation, gleefully giving weather updates in the hours before...he rushes about making sure everything is ready for us to have FUN!

We sleep as late as we want.  We eat a big, hot breakfast with BACON and then commences nonstop sledding, snow fort building, King of the Mountain and snow ball wars stopped only for quick warms ups of snow gear.

I keep the kitchen manned with hot chocolate and marshmallows, the crock put humming with something steamy and have fun chatting with whomever is on their "warm up break."  This storm, Noah and I spent a great hour listening to his current favorite tunes while I fried up beignets from Cafe Du Monde (thanks to friends at Christmas time)

There are dance parties in the kitchen, board games by fires, and the occasional movie (this time, the girls' first time watching Return of the Jedi).

This guy learned how to operate the snow blower this year.  I'm all, "he'll lose an arm!" and Randall's all, "he's growing up.  Let him become a man!"

The night slows down for wine for the marrieds and bed for the littles where they dream of just one more day off.

Give me the South any day, except during a huge winter storm with this crazy crew!

Shen Yun!

A little old snowstorm couldn't stop us from going!  I'll admit I was terribly nervous all the way to Boston and back and I wouldn't have gone had I not already purchased tickets that happened to be non-transferable, but we're home safe and sound and the girls have nothing but sweet memories.  :-)

They loved the costumes and the music.  Violet's favorite dance depicted the story of the Magic Paintbrush that brings everything painted to life.  Mia loved the dance with the best outfits.  :-)  I loved the dance of the Magic Bowl of Meat in which a vegetarian monk is given a bowl of magic meat to eat by a god and becomes the strongest monk ever.  I was waiting for a little kung fu thrown in, but it never happened.  Alas.

The costumes were gorgeous and the girls loved going to a beautiful theater.  They especially loved the chandeliers.  Violet was sure they were made from exquisite icicles.  :-)

I had hoped to eat in China town as the theater was in the same area, but we needed to get back on the road before the next wave of snow hit!  We're expecting another 2-3 FEET this week!
I got only one sad little picture.  It took so much longer than usual to get to Boston...then rushed to the theater through inches of slush while it sleeted like mad with only minutes to spare before the show started.  Thankfully, girls are always adorable no matter how wet their hair is!  ;-)

Thank you, Aunt Susan!
