Beach Day!

Today was a great day.  We went down to Rhode Island and had a blast.  We got there mid-morning and stayed to mid afternoon.  The temperature was ideal.  We had good sun-but didn't roast or burn.  The water temp was comfortable too.  The waves were strong enough to boogie board but not too strong to be scary.  Last year, Mia was barely into getting her toes wet.  What a change!  She might have been in the water longer than the boys.  She took Violet by the hand and they both gleefully jumped over low rolling waves for a long, long time.  They even threw in some "ring around the rosy" for good measure. Sooooo much fun!

We even got to just sit in our chairs and talk. Imagine that!  The kids are old enough that we don't need to be paranoid hover-ers.  It was quite relaxing. I (R) went back and forth between playing in the water with the kids and chatting with Jessemyn. I'll say it again: What a great day!

 And now for some fun with sea-weed.  What a ham.

Too Cool

In an unfortunate lapse of judgement, I agreed to let the boys have their hair mohawked by my visiting brother.  I innocently thought two things.  1)  Let them get it out of their system NOW and it can grow back before school starts and 2)  They will be embarrassed and never want to do it again.

Yeah.  Not so much.

Everywhere we go they hear, "Whoa.  Cool hair."  On the up side, they also hear, "Wow.  Your mom is COOL."

Apparently, all you need to do to be a hip mom is to agree to be seen with kids that look like skunks.

I'm fighting a very strong urge to shave them bald while they snooze.

Joseph's already asking how old he must be to dye the tips and get his ear pierced.  Lord, have mercy.
