Confirmation

Sunday was a good day.  A really, really good day...and boy, did we need one around here!  Joseph was confirmed.  In our faith tradition, that means he publicly confessed his belief in Jesus Christ and his belief in the power of the Word in all its forms in His life.  It's a big deal.  He's done a lot of work in preparation for this day.  Read lots of the Bible.  Studied what past theologians have interpreted it to say.  Talked with our pastors. Taken tests.  Done oodles of assignments.  It's not a graduation...it's more like step in the race that we believe started at baptism and we pray finishes when he joins with all the saints before the throne in heaven....hence, the tradition of the white robes.

Family came from near and far.  His aunt and uncle came, continuing to care for his spiritual journey as they promised years ago at his baptism.  My dad flew up from Florida.  Mia thought it was great to sit next to him in church! Even my aunt and uncle from FL flew up!  What amazing love from so many beautiful people!

Uncle Caleb joined us for a picnic after the service which we shared with one of Joseph's best friends who was also confirmed.  WHY didn't I remember to take a picture of the two of them together?!
